Preparing farmers for a fair transition to cellular agriculture
How could cultivated meat become an opportunity for farmers, rather than a technology that develops around them?
FEASTS, Fostering European Cellular Agriculture for Sustainable Transition Solutions, brings together research across the technological, environmental, economic and social dimensions of cultivated meat and seafood. Within FEASTS, RespectFarms focuses on the role of farmers in this transition.
Our work explores current agricultural business models, farmers' perspectives on cellular agriculture, the conditions needed for adoption, and how cultivated meat production could practically be integrated into a farming environment. This research is translated into reports, practical tools and recommendations designed for different audiences, from farmers and researchers to policymakers and agricultural organisations.

ENABLING THE TRANSITION
Policy Brief
Creating the conditions for farmer participation. Technological feasibility alone will not determine whether cultivated meat becomes relevant to agriculture. The policy environment will also shape whether and how farmers can participate.
The FEASTS Task 4.5 policy briefing translates findings from the farmer-focused research into identified policy gaps and recommendations.
Target groups: EU, national and regional policymakers | Public authorities | Agricultural organisations | Food-system organisations | Research and innovation stakeholders
MAKING IT PRACTICAL
Cultivated Meat Farm Blueprint
How might a cultivated meat farm work in practice? The Cultivated Meat Farm Blueprint provides a practical overview of what is needed to set up cultivated meat production within an existing farm. It provides an entry point into the cultivated meat farm concept and is intended to make the concept explorable beyond the research community.
Target groups: Farmers | Farmer organisations | Policymakers | Agricultural educators | Students | Civil society | Wider food and agriculture community

UNDERSTANDING FARMERS
Business models & transitions
Understanding the starting point. What does farming look like today, and where could cellular agriculture fit?
FEASTS Deliverable 4.4, Business Models in European Agri and Aquaculture and Engagement Strategy for Farmers and Aquafarmers, investigates agricultural and aquaculture business models and how farmers and aquafarmers can be engaged with cultivated meat and seafood. The work provides an important research foundation for understanding the agricultural side of the transition before proposing how a future cultivated meat farm could work.
Target groups: Researchers
