RespectFarms is a start-up in the cellular agriculture industry, located in the Netherlands. With a long history in cultivated meat, our vision is to sustainably transform our food system by integrating the best out of the conventional and the cellular agriculture industry. We, therefore, see ourselves as system integrator. Our goal is to be the first cellular agriculture farm worldwide. We will set up the first pilotfarm, aiming to productize and commercialize by 2028. The goal is to transform 1000 farms by 2038. Over the past years, we researched the feasibility, viability and desirability of cultivated meat farming together with our partners.

For the concept of decentralized production of cultivated meat at a farm, the context in which a bioreactor should operate differs from many of the current design and design approaches of existing technology and peer companies. It’s not about factory scale and pharma; it is about farm scale and food production. For this role, you need to be able to think outside of the box, question current standards and practices, and be visionary and ambitious. We need the brightest and most creative people on board for our plans and we invite you to join our team.

We are looking for a Head of R&D to run, optimize and commercialize the first pilotfarm. Part of your role is making this plan a reality, building a cultivated meat farm and scaling out our technology to the world! Some of the responsibilities include:

• Engineering a cultivated meat farm and productizing for rollout
• Leading the R&D team and supporting in managing all tech efforts
• Being responsible for the R&D roadmap: reaching technical and business milestones
• Leading final decision making of farm-scale technologies
• Working together with diverse partners working on the technologies to be placed, assembled and integrated on the farm

• Master or PhD
• Technical background / Engineer
• Scientific /Engineering experience in cellular agriculture or related field
• 7y+ working experience in biotech, foodtech, cell biology or related field
• Ambition to make decentral cultivated meat production a viable reality
• Able to lead a team and work with very diverse parties
• You are energetic, an out-of-the-box thinker, open-minded, enthusiastic and driven to make a real change
