From Lab to Farm
Cultivated meat didn't appear overnight. The concept dates back to the 1950s through the pioneering work of Dutch researcher Willem van Eelen, who imagined producing meat directly from animal cells rather than raising entire animals.
Today, that vision is becoming reality!
RespectFarms was co-founded by Ira van Eelen, Willem's daughter, and continues this legacy by exploring how cultivated meat can be integrated into traditional farms.
Before creating this pilot facility, RespectFarms conducted extensive research with livestock farmers across Europe. The findings showed that many farmers are actively looking for new business opportunities that can complement existing agricultural activities.
Did you know?
Research conducted by RespectFarms found that approximately 1 in 10 farmers expressed strong interest in integrating cultivated meat into their future business model.
Key takeaway
Cultivated meat is not only a food innovation, it can also become a new form of farming!
